My star sign is Taurus, the bull. Typically, Taureans are known for being head strong, stubborn and extremely driven, as they just want to get things done. This pretty much sums me up!
What is your favourite yoga pose and why?
Natarajasana has always been a favourite pose and I now love it even more because I’ve been exploring the full version of the pose. With a combination of concentration and breath, I can find myself settling into the full pose “better”.
What is the yoga pose that challenges you the most and why?
Padahastasana from the back has always made me feel claustrophobic however more recently because of a knee injury, Garudasana is definitely my most challenging as I can’t wrap my right knee over my left knee and wrap my foot behind the calf without it causing me pain. This frustrates me (my ego) to bits! But again, it’s a great opportunity for me to utilise my breath and concentration.
What is your greatest fear?
FOMO: Fear of Missing Out
Do you have any long term yoga goals?
In the short term I look forward to developing and growing as a yoga teacher. In the longer term I plan to complete my Power Living 500hr TT in 2017.
Try not to dwell on the past too much or focus ahead on the future. The past is gone and you can’t change it and the future will come.
Describe your lifestyle and eating habits:
98% of the time I am into healthy living because it makes me feel great. In particular, I am drawn to whole foods and cooking at home. I try not to eat anything unless I know the ingredients i.e. I stay away from fast and processed food. My biggest downfall is alcohol. Working for an alcohol company and managing the pub, bar and nightclub segments doesn’t help!
If you were a supermarket item, what would you be? Why?
I would be coconut oil for two reasons. Firstly, it has a myriad of uses (food item, moisturiser, hair treatment, teeth cleaner) and secondly because I consume so much I might actually turn into it one day!
If you could only instil one thing from yoga to your students, what would it be?
To always be present and partake in the moment you are in, right now, to the fullest. Try not to dwell on the past too much or focus ahead on the future. The past is gone and you can’t change it and the future will come.
What is your favourite thing in life? Besides yoga, of course!
Music, food and travel. My next big trip is to Coachella, which is a big music festival in America.
Do you have a life strategy or a personal philosophy that rarely fails you?
Trust that the universe has got you.
Tell me something that not many people know about you?
I am addicted to Loving Earth raw chocolate.
